Please keep in mind that the age listed above is the ideal. However, this is not always the case with our sponsored children because, due to various circumstances, particularly poverty, many of them do not have the opportunity to attend school, and when they finally do, through sponsorship; they begin late when they are older, which has an impact on how they perform. As a result, many of them struggle to meet standards and are even required to retake a grade because of poor performance.

What is the current 501c3 Status with Benjamin House Ministries?
As a new board, we have looked into every aspect of the ministry so that we can learn from the past, operate effectively in the present, and also thrive in the future. It was during this time we discovered that on May 5, 2022 our 501c3 had been revoked by the IRS. This occurred because of three consecutive years of non-filing. We want you to be aware that we know this and are working tirelessly to reinstate our 501c3 as quickly as possible. We have submitted all forms and are fully cooperating with the IRS to ensure they have all of the missing returns and documentation required and feel confident our status will be reinstated within the next 60-90 days (July-August). We are fully confident that our 501c3 non-profit status will be restored and retroacted so that our faithful donors and supporters are not impacted.
Will I still be able to receive a tax write off for any donations made after the 501c3 was revoked?
Yes! Since we are submitting all of the forms from the previous years and cooperating with the IRS, our 501c3 will be retroactive once re-instated. This means we can supply you with a tax write off form from previous years as soon as our status is cleared.
Why are Children in school past the age of 18? Some as old as their mid twenties?
Due to various circumstances, particularly poverty, many of the children do not have the opportunity to attend school, and when they finally do, through sponsorship; they begin late when they are older. This puts them behind in school and also has an impact on how they perform. As a result, many of them struggle to meet standards and are required to retake a grade because of poor performance. With that in mind, we still strive to give all children an education regardless of their age. We believe that everyone does an opportunity to reach their dreams, even if they are behind in terms of international standards. Our adult children are some of the most driven students we see in Uganda.
