Every day, Ugandan parents are faced with a choice. Either I can keep my child and when they are older they will struggle with life just like I am, OR I can take my child to an orphanage and they will get 3 meals a day, an education, and a chance at a better life.
We believe that's a choice no parent should ever have to make.
Our desire is to remove the barriers that are currently keeping families apart. If the school fees of the child or having enough food for the family is the challenge, we attempt to get sponsorship for that child so they can stay with their parents. If its a young teenage mother, we work with her to help her become the mother we know she can be, rather than her having to subject her child to a lifetime alone. Throughout all of our programs, self-sustainability plans are an absolute must. We do not simply want to put a bandage on the problem, we want to solve it at the root and set these families up for long term life and success. It is the hard route, but it is best.
Our sponsorship program goes beyond supporting a single child - it’s dedicated to keeping families together. As a sponsor, you build a relationship with your sponsored child while your contributions empower their entire household. We partner closely with each family to design a sustainability plan, teaching marketable skills, creating employment opportunities, and fostering long-term self-reliance. By investing in holistic development rather than one-off aid, we break the cycle of poverty and equip families to thrive on their own.
Preventing crises before they begin is at the heart of The Uprising. This strategic plan combines school clubs, social events, training workshops, camps, and one-on-one mentorship to guide Ugandan teenagers toward positive life choices. Through engaging activities and practical instruction, we address the root causes of fatherlessness and economic hardship. By nurturing leadership, character, and community support among youth, The Uprising creates a ripple effect that strengthens families and builds a more hopeful future.
For the estimated 15,000 children living on Kampala’s streets, we offer more than shelter - we provide a path to healing and belonging. In our Transitional Homes, each small group of up to eight children receives personalized care from trained social workers and dedicated House Parents. Here, orphans find emotional support, counseling, and a safe environment as we work to reunite them with relatives or place them in permanent families within 9–12 months. Our goal is to restore broken lives by rebuilding hearts, minds, and family bonds.
